Parchim International Airport operates more than 10,000 flights in 2008

According to the statistics of Parchim Airport on December 16, 2008, Parchim International Airport operates 10,171 flights (including Flight training and private aircraft, passenger and cargo charter flights) in 2008, transports 1900 passengers, and 3550 tons Import and Export goods.

Parchim International Airport is in State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern of Germany, the central area of Europe. By the A24 highway connected Hamburg and Berlin, the airport is 120 km & 160 km respectively from the top 2 cities in Germany. The German railway lines run across the Airport Industrial Park. The Baltic port of Rostock, Wismar and Lübeck are within 100 km circle of the airport. It is a fantastic aviation gateway with multi-modal transportation of Road, Air, Sea & Railway ready at service. The airport area has good weather condition all year round and is ideal for aircraft landing and taking off. The airport provides 24 hours service to all types of aircraft since it is far from the living areas of the city. the airport can operate a total of 180,000 flights every year. Occupying 850 hectors of land, the airport has developed attached functional zones as Bond Logistics Park (BLP), Bond Industrial Park (BIP), Bond Trading Center (BTC) and Business Park (BP).

Mecklenburg - Vorpommern and the German Federal Government have approved the Parchim area to be logistics hub in northern Germany. Via northern port cities, Rostock, lubeck, Wismar connect the three countries of the Nordic and Baltic cities such as Helsinki, St. Petersburg etc., through Berlin connect Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, and other Eastern European countries.

Due to the restrictions on night flights and noise problem, Germany's traditional aviation hub, Frankfurt Airport, only allow 17 night flights a day from 11 pm to 5 am, but just Lufthansa wants a total of 41 night flights during this period of time a day. As the great contradiction between supply and demand, many airlines are unable to obtain new flight operations license at Frankfurt Airport, so as to cancel operations at the airport by force. Lufthansa German Airlines also plans to move their air cargo center to Leipzig Airport or Munich Airport in order to reduce the dependence on the Frankfurt Airport.

Parchim Airport has a international first-class facilities, after more than a year operation, her outstanding advantages have been gradually recognized by the aviation industry. Parchim airport operation has become the first selection for operating over size cargo, passenger and cargo charter flights, and attract more and more cargo airlines to develop their business here.
